Philadelphia Pavilion

In this theoretical design, I was challenged to imagine an outdoor pavilion in Fairmont Park on the east side of the Schuylkill river in downtown Philadelphia. Through this design, I wanted to capture the fluid sails of boats that might once have worked their way up and down the Schuylkill as well as embrace a natural fluidity to the river and the surrounding nature. But at the same time I wanted to embrace the bold designs and hard angles that would capture the urban ethos and vitality of downtown Philadelphia. Through this bridging of form and function, I hoped to provide a space for the urban family and weary traveler to stop and enjoy music and theater, thus enriching the urban life.
